SRO fishes the trout-rich waters fed by the winter snowmelt.  We fish from where the Eagle River begins northwest through Eagle-Vail, Avon, Edwards, Eagle and finally all along the Colorado River.  The segment that our guides frequent year-round is located in the Roaring Fork Valley. The cool mountain water is where you will find some of Colorado’s largest Rainbow, Brown and Cutthroat Trout.

The hotels in and around Vail Village offer 5-Star accommodations. If you are into the night-life, fine dining, and serious pampering, this is your area!

For visitors that like a more private experience, we like the VRBO or Airbnb opportunities near, but not in, Vail. Check your map for places along I-70 from Red Cliff to Rifle.

Expert Tip: Just like the rest of the US, the infrastructure of this area is aging. We do not advise staying too far away as there are often road closures. It’s also a good idea to check the age of your rental. Some of the pictures online are from the early 2000s and have not been updated.

Food

From diners to 5-star restaurants, the Vail area has it all! Ask your guide about their favorite restaurants.

For groceries we recommend the City Market off of Frontage Road.

3/4 day float (5/6) hours: $650

Half-Day Float (3/4) hours:  $550

  • Southern Roots Outfitters does not have a state liquor license so we cannot serve alcohol, but you are welcome to bring anything you like as long as you are 21 years of age.
